La Maison Clarée
  From our guest book

‘Our summer vacation in the French Alps has been AMAZING!! From the moment we pulled up to La Maison Claree and were greeted so warmly by our hosts, we knew it would be a vacation to remember.’

‘From mountain biking to rafting and canyoning… we couldn’t have asked for a more adventurous holiday. Thanks to our amazing and welcoming hosts – you made our trip one to remember.’

‘What can we say – your chalet certainly made our holiday really fantastic. Weather also fantastic, facilities great, we’ll definitely be back!’

‘Excellent facilities. Wonderful area, skiing very good – even for beginners.’

‘We’ve had a fabulous week here – wonderful house and Jacqui, you’ve been such a kind and helpful host. Thank you so much for organising such a superb chef for our birthday celebration dinner and also a babysitter – it allowed us to enjoy an evening in the bars of Briançon! The weather has been brilliant and we’ve had a great time exploring this beautiful valley.’

‘A wonderful week in this lovely house ... exploring this beautiful area. A very warm welcome and ... very helpful travel advice. We will be back.’

‘We’ve had a great time in this lovely house.’

‘... the grandkids loved the space and the potential for hide-and-seek!’

‘Two feet of new snow — what a wonderful sight. We were very impressed how quickly all local roads were cleared of snow and ski tracks pisted. We have walked miles on prepared paths in beautiful sunshine up and down the Vallée de la Clarée.’

‘Nous avons passés une semaine très agréeable dans un petit village calme et typique. Le Briançonnais possède un climat unique, les paysages sont merveilleux et on a la possibilité de parcourir à pied ou à vélo de nombreux sentiers et chemins qui nous font découvrir une faune et flore très riche.’

‘Everywhere was stunning but with special delights in old Briançon, the Col d’Izoard — gorges to Guillestre, Col du Galibier — marmots on north side; Vallée Clarée — wonderful old church in Névache was so fascinating that we missed lunch!’

‘The walking here is the best we have had in four Alpine holidays, with so many routes to choose from, wonderful mountain scenery, wild flowers and birds in abundance.’

‘We could not leave out a mention of the delightful Vallée de la Clarée, so unspoilt and we look forward to returning another year to ‘do’ more! For any other wildlife enthusiasts/birders, birds seen in immediate area: swift, crag martin, house martin, rock sparrow, house sparrow, chaffinch, goldfinch, serin, yellowhammer, marsh warbler, black redstart, common redstart, stonechat, whinchat, buzzard, jay, rock bunting, magpie, carrion crow, great tit, white wagtail, woodpigeon, skylark, quail, crested tit, coal tit, blackbird, mistle thrush.’

‘Our first visit to the Alps and it has the wow factor. After two decades touring France we kept the best till last! The wonderful Vallée de la Clarée is breathtaking!’

‘We came to the area primarily to ride up some of the ‘cols’ that the Tour de France covers. We first saw pictures of these roads in the 1950s when we were both young cyclists, and to ride over them ourselves was truly magnificent. We also saw the race live and watched other stages on TV in the bars in town [Briançon].’

Vallée de la Clarée is absolutely stunning and walks from Laval and Fontcouverte have been wonderful — to the lakes Laramon, Rond, Long and to the Col de Chardonnet — all very scenic and rewarding. We saw eagles, marmots, black squirrel and some stoats on these walks.’

‘Thanks a million — we had a great time!’
