Monday, January 14th, 2013

Conditions are amazing in our local ski areas and we’ve been enjoying fabulous fresh powder, blue skies and sunshine.

And more snow…

Saturday, December 15th, 2012

We’ve had lots of snow here in Les Alberts and all along the Clarée Valley over the past few days. The house is looking quite festive!

It’s great to be back on the slopes again, with fantastic snow already – 250cm at the summit in Serre Chevalier! We’re already looking forward to some great skiing over the Christmas holidays…

Back on the slopes!

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

Plenty of snow has already fallen in the area and local resorts have opened early this year. The higher pistes at Serre Chevalier have 145cm, so it’s looking good for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Take a look at these websites and webcams for the latest info on conditions and the fantastic range of activities available for skiers and non-skiers alike: www.serre-chevalier.com/hiver/ and www.montgenevre.com/winter/

More fabulous autumn colours

Friday, November 16th, 2012

We’ve already had snow this autumn and are looking forward to the start of the ski season next month. But meanwhile, the amazing seasonal colours are still with us…

Winter season 2012-13

Friday, September 28th, 2012

Ski areas at Serre Chevalier open on 15th December this year. Lift passes will be discounted during the first week of skiing. Montgenèvre’s ski area will be open from 10th December – keep an eye on local conditions for more information (www.montgenevre.com/winter/).

The French school holidays begin on 22nd December for two weeks. Their February holiday in 2013 will be from 16th February to 17th March and the busiest time will be from 23rd February to 10th March. Keep in mind that if you are able to book outside these dates, the pistes and the local roads will be much quieter.

Easter skiing

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

We had a fantastic Easter skiing holiday at Maison Clarée this year. Skied on Easter Sunday in fairly typical spring conditions, good but soft snow by the afternoon. But on Wednesday morning we were skiing in 20 inches of fresh powder, all the skiing was amazing and we skied the full Serre Chevalier area with no queues and no crowds. Who could ask for more?!

A huge thank you to Davina and her team at Ski Connections in Villeneuve – they provided us with excellent instructors – all the children really enjoyed ski school this time. We also rented our gear from Davina, which was good quality and competitively priced. The whole set-up was great and all very easy and convenient. We particularly enjoyed the 9.30 start, which made the mornings more relaxing! We’ll definitely be going back to Ski Connections next time!

Our stay was further enhanced by Nathalie’s delicious food and Lindsay’s help in the kitchen which meant that we had time to put our feet up and enjoy pre-dinner drinks/showers and minimal clearing-up. We achieved all this for less than the cheapest half-board package any tour company could offer – Maison Clarée is the way to go!

There will be high excitement in Serre Chevalier from 22nd to 25th March 2012 when the French junior snowboard championships hit the slopes. Serre Chevalier has been described by worldsnowboardguide.com as ‘one of the best resorts in France… this great resort has heaps of major terrain’.
