We have snow!

January 5th, 2010

This photo was taken just before Christmas 2009; since then we have had varied weather conditions including more snow. Now we are looking forward to some sunny days! Both nordic and alpine ski conditions are excellent. Happy New Year to all our guests, past, present and future!

Let it snow!

November 14th, 2009

The season is off to a good start! It has snowed 50cm in Montgenèvre and the ski area opens on 5th December for la San Ambrogio, an Italian bank holiday!! Have a look at Montgenèvre’s website as they have a webcam focused on the bottom runs…

Massages!

October 18th, 2009

Great news!  We now have a masseuse living in les Alberts!  She comes to our house from across the playground with her table and oils and offers massages to all our guests!  What a fantastic way to relax after a hard day’s skiing…

La Fête du Pain

September 6th, 2009

We were lucky to be staying at La Maison Claree in early August as preparations were underway for the annual bread festival in Les Alberts. The bread oven fired up a few days in advance and we bought one of the first loaves baked by villagers. Delicious…

We also had a chance to look inside the oven.

There was a farmers market just over the road and Les Alberts was bustling with locals and visitors sampling everything from honey to regional liqueurs.

Hello!

September 6th, 2009

We’re delighted to be posting our first entry on the new blog for La Maison Clarée. We’ve set this up to give our past and future guests a taste of what’s happening at the house itself and in the surrounding area. There’s so much to do and see in the beautiful Vallée de la Clarée and in  Briançon, the ski resorts of Montgenèvre and Serre Chevalier, as well as  further afield.

As we develop this blog, we hope to build up an archive of material that will be helpful to anyone thinking of visiting us in the future or wanting to find out more about this wonderful part of the Alps.

If you’d like to add to this blog with your own feedback, ideas for other guests, local information, photos etc, please feel free to create your own account and add your post.
